SMITHFIELD TOWNSHIP, MONROE COUNTY - Like many of us, Bread of Life Church members are cleaning house to welcome company for Thanksgiving. Unlike many of us, they're expecting more than 200 guests. Pastor Levi Clemonts III said, "A lot of people, even working class people are having a difficult time today putting food on the table."

The non denominational church organized a Thanksgiving Dinner. It's from 12-4 on Thanksgiving Day. The Pastor said, "It's a requirement for us as Christian people to love our neighbors as ourselves."

Church member Charles Quarels volunteered because he knows what it's like to need help. He told Eyewitness News he lost his house to foreclosure and lived in his car for months. He recalled, "To have a nice hot wholesome meal sit before you - I can remember the days it put a smile on my face."

The volunteers want to feed as many people as possible so they asked Pocono Cab Company to help. The cab company will donated its services. Drivers will pick people up at several locations in Monroe County.

People will leave the church with full stomachs and warm clothes. Church members have collected hundreds of items of warm clothing to donate. The Pastor said,"My only expectation is that they are blessed on that day, that they enjoy the food, that they appreciate everything that's given to them."

The volunteers are thankful they can help make Thanksgiving Special for people in need.

The church is located on Business Route 209 in Smithfield Township. For more information call 570-994-5701.
