WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- Layoffs went into effect Wednesday at the nationŐs largest independent provider of telecommunication services.
Frontier Communications has reduced its workforce in Pennsylvania by 3%, primarily in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area.
Company officials are not releasing how many employees are affected or what their specific jobs are.
We're told the layoffs came as part of a labor agreement ratified by the Communication Workers of America Union in November.
The impacted union workers will have the option of bidding on 39 available call center jobs in downtown Wilkes-Barre. Or they can take a severance package. | |
