BERWICK, COLUMBIA COUNTY -- A fugitive armed with an AK-47 is on the run, and police need your help finding him.

Berwick police, and other agencies, are looking for 25-year-old John Bennett, known better as "Kai." He's accused of kidnapping a woman in April.

"He had taken a female from the Berwick area at knifepoint to Hazleton, where he collected an AK47," said Detective Ken Strish with the Berwick Police Department.

But that's not all. Police say he also broke into a woman's home here along Orange Street and beat her with a baseball bat. Detective Ken Strish tells us Bennett also tried to attack a man in a car.

"He saw somebody he needed to speak with and started to strike the car with a baseball bat, but was trying to hit the person inside," he said.

People in Berwick want this armed man caught.

"I know that's trouble," said Clark Titus of Berwick. "But if you can't find him, what are you going to do with him?"

Police are also looking for Bennett's girlfriend, Jamie Lynn Krum, who allegedly helped in the kidnapping.

"She drove the car to Hazleton and back during the whole kidnapping process," said Strish.

Strish says Bennett used to live in Hazleton and most recently at 907 West Front Street in Berwick. But now police don't know where he is and need the public's help. Bennett is 5'5", 170 pounds, and has tattoos on his arms. If you see him, police want you to call 9-1-1.
