PARADISE TWP., MONROE COUNTY- The Mount Airy Casino is up and running as usual, but starting Monday, it was being done under the watchful eye of the State Gaming Control Board.

This comes just several weeks after its owner, Louis DeNaples of Dunmore, was indicted on four counts of perjury for allegedly lying about his connections to organized crime. On Monday the gaming board overseers met with the news media.

Anthony Ceddia is the trustee, or the “watchdog,” for the state. "Everything that's in place currently stays in place. We're adding to it, only to the extent which we could provide the information we need to provide to commission on a monthly basis. Operation is functioning as it should and we have no evidence to the contrary, I want to make that clear, no evidence to the contrary," says Ceddia.

The gaming board staff will work with Mount Airy's management staff, including Joe D'Amato. He says the casino is cooperating and its ultimate goal is protecting its customers, investors, and its owner, Louis DeNaples.

"The management here will fully cooperate. We have some goals and objectives as well, some Tony talked about. Also we want to make certain we protect this license and continue to operate so when the owner comes back, he has an asset that's fully developed and functioning to its fullest extent," added D’Amato.

Also a Certified Public Accountant for the gaming board will monitor the casino’s finances. CPA Mark Gleason said, "What our role is going to be in this case is helping Tony as their trustee help the board, help the other parties, bring together the information and keeping the trustee informed. Being in position to make good transparent decisions."

The Gaming Control Board overseeers will be at Mount Airy Casino two or three days a week as the DeNaples’ case makes its way through the legal system.
