DALLAS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- State senators held a public hearing at Misercorida University Tuesday. The focus was drilling for natural gas in the area.

The senators heard the benefits and drawbacks of drilling in Northeastern Pennsylvania. New jobs and new people could come to the area.

But some people at the hearing opposed plans to drill. They site groundwater contamination, environmental problems and an increase in traffic.

The discussion will continue Wednesday morning at the Woodlands Inn and Resort.
