LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- T here was not a happy crowd in Lehman Township Tuesday night.
The LehmanTownshipSupervisors ok'd natural gas drilling. The motion comes with conditions allowing Encana Oil & Gas U-S-A Incorporated to drill along Peaceful Valley road.
The supervisors said the State Oil and Gas Act prevented them from passing ordinances against the drilling.
Many of those in attendance are concerned about water and safety issues with the drilling.
1,200 people signed a petition to stop the drilling. The citizens say they will continue to fight. | | |
