Gas Leak Forces W-B Business to Evacuate

Gas Leak Forces W-B Business to Evacuate - Wednesday, February 4, 2009 at 3:30PM EST

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A gas leak forced a downtown Wilkes-Barre business to evacuate Wednesday afternoon.
It happened near the corner of South Franklin and Market Streets. A construction crew struck a three-inch gas line. They were digging a hole as part of the Wilkes-Barre streetlight project.

Natural gas spewed into the air and a nearby law firm. Several dozen workers from the firm were evacuated and the street was closed to traffic for about an hour as UGI worked on the problem.
