Gas Prices Continue to Climb
Gas Prices Continue to Climb - Sunday, May 10, 2009 at 10:00PM EST
WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Gasoline prices are on the rise - again. We stopped by a Wilkes-Barre gas station Sunday and found a gallon of regular going for $2.19. That's a bargain compared to many others charging about $2.30.
AAA says gas prices jumped 12 cents a gallon in the last week. This marks the sixth consecutive week prices are above $2.00 a gallon.
Some drivers tell us they're fed up. They say consumers must band together to drive down prices at the pump. Walter Rice of Bear Creek said, "It's up to the people. I think the people have to do more than what the politicians are doing."
Alex Kelly of Pittston added, "I blame our government, it's a shame the way they fluctuate these prices. If it goes up on the market, the next day everything goes up at the pump."
A barrel of crude oil is near $60. That's the highest price since November. | |
