Gas Prices/Holiday Plans

Gas Prices/Holiday Plans - Thursday, July 3, 2008 at 7:39PM EST

Thursday, Jul 3, 2008 @ 07:39pm EST
Delaware Water Gap, Monroe County -

High gas prices haven't lightened the load for workers at the Delaware Water Gap Welcome Center. Between giving directions and advice, the staff here worked almost non-stop Thursday.
Ramona Bouffard wanted to take her five kids on vacation, but needed to cut back somewhere. So she took a shorter trip than usual from Connecticut.
Maureen and Daniel Eifret are driving more than 800 miles from Connecticut to Chicago. The couple knew it would cost hundreds of dollars, but they found a way to save for the trip. Daniel stopped commuting.
The work load here seems to prove no matter how high gas prices go, sometimes memories per gallon are more important than miles per gallon.
Tourism officials in the Poconos expect to see a big boost in tourism because of people who opt to take shorter trips from New York and New Jersey.
