KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- Gas prices continually drive upward, fueled by Wall Street oil prices. A barrel went for $126 Monday sparking record smashing across the country. Most gas stations in the Wyoming Valley posted 87 unleaded for $3.71.
Consumers have watched prices climb for weeks with no relief. Many told us they're adjusting habits and cutting out road trips. Guesses around area gas stations have gas prices rocketing past $4. Some believed the election year was being used by Washington politicians to funnel leverage in the November polls.
Meanwhile, consumers believe lawmakers have turned to playing a blame game instead of trying to solve the price crisis. President Bush Monday told CBS News demand for gas is driving costs. Congress has been implicated in ignoring the price of gasoline.
