WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY-The emergency department at Geisinger South Wilkes-Barre closed its doors at 11:59 p. m..

On Monday, a new urgent care center will open.
The center will help patients with injuries and illnesses that require immediate care..
Things like colds and coughs or sprains and insect bites. Conditions not serious enough to warrant an e-r visit.

This is all part of Geisinger's transition of the South Wilkes-Barre campus to out patients services.
Geisinger Wyoming Valley will continue with advance and critical care.
