WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Easter and Good Friday traditions are well underway this holiday weekend. This year prices are climbing for some Easter ingredients, not only for the customer, but also business owners.

Janet Sorbelli and her children Paul and Susan have been in the business of baked goods for 40 years. Sorbelli told WBRE News, "My husband started this, Susie was only a tiny baby." Good Friday brings good business to their bakery, Premo's.

Susan Sorbelli stated, "Today's about the busiest besides Christmas." Customers came early to grab all kinds of goodies in the Parsons part of Wilkes-Barre.

Margaret Ambrose drove from Hanover Township, "I bought the nut rolls and the apricot rolls and the delicious cookies" The owners also bake a Polish potato pie called Pagatch.

Janet Sorbelli added, "Mashed potatoes with butter and cheese. It's a bread dough and they roll it out flat" It's made mainly with flour, one of many baking ingredients that cost more this Easter.

Sorbelli added, "They (the cost of flour) doubled, almost tripled in cost. I try to keep it civil." Add walnuts, poppy seeds and sugar to the list of climbing prices and you'll pay a little more when it's time to cash out.

Susan Sorbelli stated, "I didn't raise them all that much because, I want my customers to come back and I want them to be happy." Customers don't seem to mind.

Margaret Ambrose, "You need to have these things for Easter and your basket. It doesn't matter, you still pay." It's the same story at Valley Seafood. Fish prices across the board have bumped up 7 to 8 percent.

Jim Nixon is the General Manager, "Whether it's because seafood is on conservation or because of fuel prices, everything's up, even the plastic containers we put them in."

Anna Kruzel added, "You know, everything's going up, no matter where you go or what you buy, but it's worth it."
