KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- The Luzerne County Government Study Commission gave its nod to vote on a new form of government.

Over the past few months the committee has been taking a close look at Luzerne County's current form of government.
The members decided it's up to the voters if they want change and will propose a home rule charter
Home rule bypasses state mandates and gives the community more say in how laws are written.
Jim Haggerty of the Commission said the group held 25 meetings, met with citizens and elected leader, and said they are on the path to improve Luzerne County's government for the future.
The Government Study Commission will draft a new charter.
It will be presented to citizens sometime in late 2010.
