Grand Jury Looks into Exchange Students Case
Grand Jury Looks into Exchange Students Case - Friday, May 29, 2009 at 10:30PM EST
SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- An investigative grand jury heard more testimony Friday about how foreign exchange students were treated in the Scranton and Wilkes-Barre areas. That investigation was prompted by our I-Team special report.
I-Team lead investigator Andy Mehalshick testified before the grand jury Friday. He told the jury what he saw inside the Myrtle Street home in Scranton where a 15-year-old Nigerian girl lived.
Our video will also be shown to the jury next week. The home was filled with dog feces. The city condemned the house after our report.
The woman who owned it and was supervising those students, Edna Burgett, could face criminal charges. The grand jury will hear more testimony next week. | |
