HARVEYS LAKE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A family that lives at Harvey's Lake made an eerie discovery in their backyard. After moving an abandoned mobile home, they found what they think could be a graveyard. They're trying to find out who might be buried there.
It all started when Jude O'Donnel dug a garden in his backyard. He found something that gave him the chills. "I'm thinking oh boy, this is weird, some poltergeist stuff here potentially so I better not be planting my garden here," said O’Donnel.
Four headstones marked with initials were found. Some are labeled mother and father. Jude's father Justin has lived here for two years and can't believe it. "I've talked to neighbors and some people have been out here a long time and they didn't know anything of it, so it's a mystery," said O’Donnel.
A mystery the O'Donnel's are trying to solve. They've searched through old books, looked at the property deed at the Luzerne County courthouse, even talked to several county historians.
That lead to no answers, only more questions. The O'Donnels say they'll leave this lot just the way it is until this mystery is solved because if there is someone buried underneath, they want to give the family a chance to pay their respects.
Until then this possible graveyard is the talk of Harvey's Lake. The O'Donnels say some neighbors think this yard could be haunted. "Possibly, you never know, I don't want to rule anything out. But I haven't seen anything spooky right now, but we'll see though," said O’Donnel.
"I really would want to know if there is somebody buried here because if there isn't, you know, I won't be as squeamish," said O’Donnel. | | |
