FOSTER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY- 20 to 40 years in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend. That's the sentence given this morning to Bobby Komrowski of Foster Township . He pled guilty to third degree murder. He stabbed and killed his ex-girlfriend, Amy Comly in October 2007. The couple had a child together who is now 3 years old.
"Frankly there's a son, you know, Dalton that's doing to go through life without a mother or father," says Luzerne County Assistant District Attorney William Finnegan.
Comly had a protection from abuse order against Komrowski. She showed up at his foster township home anyway. An argument led to the stabbing.
The Luzerne County district attorney's office was seeking the death penalty. Komrowski's attorney, Mark Bufalino says, "Not only the possibility of life without the possibility of parole but obviously a much greater penalty in play. But also more than that, the plea fits the facts and circumstances of the crime."
Inside the courtroom the judge allowed Comly's father to address Komrowski before the sentencing. He cried while describing the loss of his daughter. Comly's family didn't want to talk on camera after the sentencing. Finnegan says, "He's been traumatized by the loss of his daughter."
Komrowski did apologize before sentencing. He cried, saying he was responsible for what happened and that he was truly sorry. Normally sentencing would happen a few weeks after a plea or a conviction. Komrowski decided to waive that time period and be sentenced this morning.
