Gypsy Moth Spraying - Friday, May 23, 2008 at 8:50PM EST

Coolbaugh Township -
Many say gypsy moths are a threat to forests. They chew on trees and other vegetation. Pilots only apply half a gallon an acre of the biological insecticide. The caterpillars must eat the chemicals on the leaves for the treatment to be effective. They still have to cover more than a quarter million acres and could be spraying through Memorial Day.
