Harshbarger Fighting Extradition to Canada
Harshbarger Fighting Extradition to Canada - Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 5:20PM EST
WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Wyoming County woman is fighting extradition to Canada to face charges in the hunting death of her husband.
A judge has ruled Harshbarger should be sent back to Canada to face negligence charges. In 2006 she shot her husband Mark. She told investigators she mistook him for a black bear.
Harshbarger is supposed to turn herself in this Friday to U. S. Marshals but she wants that delayed.
The victim's family isn't happy. They want justice. Dean Harshbarger said, "It’s a bit discouraging, actually disgusting I know she has a right to appeals process but its just a stalling tactic I'm nervous we consider her dangerous."
Lawyers have to file briefs by Wednesday and a hearing may be held in federal court in Scranton on Thursday. Harshbarger faces 20 years in prison. | |
