Hazleton Apartment Badly Damaged by Fire - Thursday, May 6, 2010 at 04:03AM EST

Reported by: Eyewitness News
Thursday May 06 2010
HAZLETON, LUZERNE COUNTY - An apartment in Hazleton was badly damaged by fire Thursday morning.

Flames broke out just before 8:30 a. m.

The building is located at 837 N. Locust St. between W. 16th St. and 17th St. off Rt. 309.

The two people who live there, Antonia Sorrentina, 79, and her son Thomas, were not home at the time.

No one was hurt in the fire.

A construction project near the home uprooted a near-by hydrant so crews had to pump water from 4 blocks away.

A utility worker says that he saw a man in the house just 10 minutes before the fire.

A State Police Fire Marshall arrived on the scene and is investigating.
