Heavy Rains Cause Rock Slide in Lycoming County

Heavy Rains Cause Rock Slide in Lycoming County - Friday, March 7, 2008 at 9:29PM EST

Friday, Mar 7, 2008 @09:29pm EST
NEAR PICTURE ROCKS, LYCOMING COUNTY-Shortly after six thirty Friday night, a busy road was closed in Eastern Lycoming County. About a mile and half north of Picture Rocks Borough, the soggy ground gave way, spilling large rocks onto US Route 220. The rocks from the crumbling hillside brought down a tree onto power lines, sending traffic on a four mile long detour.
WBRE TV talked with Chief Al Little of the Picture Rocks Fire Department,
"This closed down the roadway north of Picture Rocks borough to the county line. They closed it down at 405 and 220 in Hughesville and Routes 42 and 220 in the Muncy Valley Area."

Penn DOT and PPL crews were on the scene as all points weather arrived and the road reopened late Friday night.
