WILLIAMSPORT, LYCOMING COUNTY - Some Pennsylvania patriots won't be home for the holidays but you can help them phone home. In Williamsport, Sprint is asking residents to donate used cell phones so the troops can stay connected.

Army Staff Sgt. Robert Bader said, "They all need to be thought of you know. They're away from their families supporting their country. The least we could do is help them."

Phones are being accepted at Sprint stores in Williamsport and Loyalsock Township until October 17th. Working and non-working phones can brought in, as well as, accessories. If you don't have any of the above, cash donations and ink cartridges are also welcomed.

"If it's a cell phone that is no longer working, they can break it down for parts and use it for cell phones that aren't working for the soldiers. If it's a usable cell phone, they'll send it over with minutes on it," said Amanda Foster with Sprint.

Any parts that are unusable will be recycled so the environment gets a helping hand as well. For each donated phone, at least one hour of talk time will be given to a soldier. "We have soldiers that are overseas. We have soldiers that are here in Pennsylvania that need help so it is a worthy cause. We're helping soldiers in general,” added Staff Sgt. Bader.
