WILKES-BARRE TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY - After four years of hard work, students from the University of Scranton are celebrating this Memorial Day weekend.
Graduation ceremonies were held Saturday and Sunday for students. This weekend's graduating class was the largest in the school's 120 year history. Between undergraduate, masters and doctoral degrees, more than 1,500 people got diplomas.
Many graduates say they're concerned about the job market and economic recession.
"I know as far as some friends who are teachers, they're having a hard time finding jobs. A lot are retiring and schools are lowering their budgets, so they're not hiring as many, it's very difficult," Elementary Eduacation major Kristen Brady said.
The graduation speaker at Sunday's ceremony was Rev. Thomas Roach, secretary for education for the Society of Jesus. | |
