SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Lackawanna County's Christmas Holiday Bureau says it needs additional donations to meet the increasing number of families seeking help this season.
The Bureau, operated by the Voluntary Action Council, provides vouchers for low income families each Christmas. The vouchers allow those families to buy what they need for the holidays.
Last year the program used $64,695 to provide assistance to 1370 families. Program Director Ellen Stevens says the agency expects to need $70,000 to assist all those who have asked for help this year.
