Millions of Americans are heading home for the holidays. It's one of the busiest travel times of the year.
Eyewitness News stopped by a busy Martz Bus Terminal in Wilkes-Barre Wednesday. Frank Garra and dozens of others are forgetting about the car this holiday.
He's not alone with his travels. Martz Trailways is open through the holiday booking bus passengers to the usual locations with their counters opening Christmas Eve and Day at 6:00 A. M.
We stopped by the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport where people of course are using planes this holiday. But air travel is down by more than 3% compared to last year.
And plans for this couple are also different compared to their last holiday. This is the first time Mary and Tom Thomas of Forty Fort are taking to sunnier skies.
AAA is reporting that for part of our region, nearly 3% fewer people plan to travel for the year-end holiday.
Most plan to go by car, and that means they'll be paying an average of $2.63 at the pump. Believe it or not, thatŐs about a dollar higher than average last year.
We're also told car rental rates are up, but hotel stays are down.
But no matter how you travel, being early and cautious is priceless. | |
