Holy Thursday Tradition Returns to Honesdale Church

Holy Thursday Tradition Returns to Honesdale Church - Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 10:44PM EST

HONESDALE, WAYNE COUNTY- A long time Easter tradition is once again part of the Easter holiday at a Honesdale church.
Thursday night the First Presbyterian Church presented "The Last Supper." It's been a decade since the church has presented the Holy Thursday re-enactment. They re-enacted the biblical story of the last supper, where Jesus washed the feet of his disciples.

Pastor Michael Lyle talked about the importance of the presentation. "So often we come on Palm Sunday and we rejoice in the coming of the King to Jerusalem and now on Easter we come and rejoice that he has risen but we miss the middle part the Last Supper, the arrests and beating and crucifixtion, its opportunity to gather Thursday night and prepare for tomorrow, Good Friday."

Church members made up the cast and crew. Easter Sunday services will be held at 11 A. M. at the church on Sunday.
