HANOVER TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- Ten homes in Luzerne County were evacuated Sunday evening because of a gas leak.

Fire crews were called out after 9:00 in Hanover Township. A Luzerne County Communications Center supervisor says the leak was detected at 68 South Regent Street. That's between Main and Oxford Streets.

Neighboring homes were evacuated as crews worked to stop the leak and clear the air. UGI was forced to shut off gas service to a number of homes in that neighborhood.
