Williamsport, Lycoming County-
Susquehanna Health System's Project 2012 moved forward with a groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday.
Hundreds of people turned out to help launch construction on the medical center's new patient tower.
The four-story tower will serve as the new entrance to the hospital. It will feature 84 state-of-the-art private patient rooms.
Medical Staff President Donald J. Feathers, M. D., explained, "The private rooms are not only nicer for our patients, they are also much more amenable to taking appropriate precautions to prevent the transmission of infection between patients."
The patient tower project is the fourth of five phases in the health system's $250 million expansion plan.
Susquehanna Health officials also announced that Williamsport Hospital will be renamed the Williamsport Regional Medical Center. | |
