PITTSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- A man accused of blowing up his house causing major damage in the neighborhood was charged Thursday.

David Lamoreaux's Exeter home exploded on August 1st of last year. Police say he blew it up himself, putting the lives of his neighbors in grave danger. L amoreaux is still terribly injured from the explosion police say he caused himself. On Thursday, he was taken from his hospital bed in Lehigh Valley Hospital, to a courtroom in Pittston.

Neighbors like Brenda Meehan are still picking up the pieces. "The whole thing just threw everybody for a loop. Nobody expected it, i mean our house is back to normal," said Meehan.

Police reports say neighbors saw Lamoreaux dousing his garage with gasoline, moments before the blast. Lamoreaux is separated from his wife. He apparently told his daughter he wanted to end his life just before the house exploded.

The blast demolished a whole side of John F. Kennedy elementary but everything was repaired just in time for classes to start.
It also damaged 55 homes in and around the Penn Avenue neighborhood. Lamoreaux will continue to recover from his burns in a new place; the Luzerne County prison while he waits for his trial.
