Local American Red Cross and Salvation Army chapters say the best way to help Hatian earthquake victims right now is not through dropping off clothes or goods.
The Red Cross says those things are too difficult to get to Haiti .
Money donations are the best way to help.
The salvation army of Wilkes-Barre agrees.
Salvation Army of Wilkes-Barre Captain Patty Richwine said, "Right now is the immediate need. This is when the crisis really is on although this crisis is going to continue with rebuilding and we've seen that in our own country."
Captain Richwine says her office has been busy as well since the earthquake hit.
The Salvation Army already has a school and hospital in Haiti , but both were badly damaged.
She says sending volunteers from our area won't happen for a while.
Right now, earthquake victims need money from charity organizations to get back on their feet.
local red cross chapters say if you’re donating, send your donations to the washington d. c. office.
