KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Luzerne County library is set for a comeback after a roof collapse. The Hoyt Library in Kingston hopes to finish renovations by October.

Construction crews bulldoze away while the books sit stacked up inside. Renovations at the Hoyt Libary in Kingston are almost finished. Maryanne Yendrzeiwski anxiously awaits Hoyts re-opening, scheduled for late September or early October.

"It's very important for the people of Kingston because it's a nice place to go to get books that you don't want to buy," said Yendrzeiwski.

The roof collapsed under the weight of a heavy snowstorm in February 2007. Some like Jason Heller could only stand and watch. "I was devastated. I stood on the corner and just looked and said how could something like this happen?" said Heller.

But the Hoyt has bounced back. Heller says he's impressed with the new look. "It's beautiful how they made a modern building but still kept the historical value of the old library," said Heller.

81 years old to be exact. Some, like Sarah Touey consider it the center of the neighborhood. "It's going to be great. I go to Good Shepard so I can just walk here after school. It's really good," said Touey.

The library is closed to the public during renovations. When it re-opens, many here think it will be better than before.
