PLAINS TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- There was a huge celebration of life Sunday afternoon in Luzerne County.
The 18th annual Cancer Survivors Celebration was held at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs in Plains Township. About 1,500 hundred people showed up to meet other cancer survivors, share stories and just have a good time. There was food, music and even face painting for kids.
Organizers say the event is a great opportunity to start moving forward after a tough battle with cancer. Event Co-Chairperson Natalie Gelb Solfanelli said, "When you survive and you learn to realize to appreciate what you have in life and enjoy every day, I think this is a wonderful event for people to be able to look at the positives side of what happens to them in life and the challenges they face."
Despite the bad weather, organizers say this was by far the largest event they've ever had. | | |
