He died suddenly but will be remembered for his public service for years to come.
Remembering 44 year old Kline Dewire a Susquehanna Regional EMS paramedic.
Hundreds filed into the Watstontown alliance church to say their final goodbyes.
Dewire was a man who started fighting fires as a teenager, and reached heights like teaching for the Pennsylvania state fire academy.
Today friends, family and co-workers, honored a man who gave his life to public service.
Fire tankers and ambulances line as far as the eye can see on east 8th street road in Watsontown.
The procession is honoring fallen fire fighter, and paramedic Kline Dewitt.
Charles Kiessling of Susquehanna Regional EMS says, "he's the best of the best, you know? He truly was a top notch father, a top notch fire fighter, top notch paramedic."
Kiessling worked with Dewire for years as a Susquehanna regional paramedic.
He and other workers shared hugs and memories outside Watsontown Alliance Church where Dewire was an active member.
Friends and coworkers says Dewire was most known for training hundreds of EMS workers.
"you name it, kline did it all in the short time he was with us. He'll be sadly missed."
Revonne Kiessling of Susquehanna Regional EMS says, "mentor to a lot of the ems people, fire people. He was an excellent instructor. He made classes that were sometimes boring a lot of fun. He just had a way with people."
Dewire's service spanned from Lycoming and Northumberland counties to across the country.
He helped in hurricane katrina relief 3 times.
Co-workers say that's just the kind of man he was...
Scott Hanner of Susquehanna Regional EMS says, "he was an excellent person, i loved the guy. he was always there, he would do anything for anybody. My words are, excellent person, you can't find nobody like him."
Several local fire departments turned out for the funeral, many wearing black wraps around their badges in remembrance.
Dewire, was a volunteer fire fighter for decades, with the Hughesville and Old Lycoming Township fire departments.
Many fire fighters, and paramedics who knew or served with him, saluted his casket, and followed it to his final resting place.
Dewire was laid to rest at the pleasant hill cemetery.
He leaves behind a wife, two sons, and a daughter.
Susquehanna Regional EMS workers say they're expecting a new emergency vehicle in their fleet they say it could some way be dedicated to Dewire. | |
