Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -

Tammy Schultz shows Andy Mehalshick photographs of her little girl, one year old Whitney. The toddler nearly drowned while Tammy was giving her a bath in this tub. Eyewitness News was there as police and paramedics converged on the home on Myers Court . We also saw the baby's grandparents rushing to the home fearing the worst. Tammy told Andy what happened.

Tammy Schultz says, "I just came out to grab a towel, it was quick I mean I saw her there and it was just like a nightmare. I'm sitting there. I put her on the floor and started pushing on her chest blowing in her mouth. I got so scared."

A Wilkes-Barre police officer grabbed the child and revived her.

Tammy continues, "I was excited to see her coming about. Know what I mean? I was so excited just to see her breathing. She was okay. It was the greatest thing. “

Andy asks, “I'm sure some moms would say how can that possibly happen? It was so fast? You have to watch your kids!”

She responds, “Wel l , stuff like that does happen. It was an accident. I love my children. I would give up my own life for my children, if I had to, They are just everything to me, my children."

Wilkes-Barre Police cleared Schultz of any wrongdoing. They determined it was an accident. But Whitney and her little brother who was also removed from that home that day are still in the custody of Luzerne County Children and Youth Services. The investigation is ongoing.
