Pittston Township, Luzerne County - The WBRE I-Team has learned that the missing money was found during a recent audit of the books in Pittston Township. The amount missing is at least $25,000.

Pittston Township Police Chief Steven Rinaldi tells us he was called by the Pittston Township board of supervisors to investigate some missing money in the township and upon finding the missing funds is working with the District Attorney’s office with an arrest pending.

The person under investigation is longtime township secretary Carolyn Tarone, she resigned, voluntarily last week.

Supervisor Tony Attardo talked with the I-Team about the investigation and says some of the funds came from garbage bag solicitations, police fines, zoning, building permits things of that nature. Supervisor Attardo said he knew the numbers were not adding up.

So far no charges have been filed in this case.
