I-Team: Wyo. Homes Owner Begins To Make Good - Monday, March 23, 2009 at 6:13PM EST

It's been nearly a year since the I-Team first blew the whistle on a well-known manufactured home dealer. Now, its owner is trying to make good. In fact today, one angry customer we told you about finally got her home. Consumer and I-team reporter Jeff Chirico has the very latest on this ongoing investigation.

That investigation even led to felony theft charges against the company owner, Dave Valenti. But now it seems the embattled businessman is paying up.

7 months late, but the home Florence Olsen paid more than a hundred grand for was finally delivered. “I'm happy that I got the house but the way I had to go to get it." The Pringle woman first called the I-Team, then hired a lawyer and petitioned the court. "I think he's making good but I think he was scared because he knew he was deep in trouble."

She's talking about Dave Valenti --owner of Wyoming Homes who was supervising the delivery Monday afternoon.

Valenti says “I wouldn't kid anybody to say I was behind the 8 ball. I'm doing best I can do to make everybody happy and whole."

Mike Agolia, a Wyoming Homes customer, says “devastating. The ice was growing on windows 1 1/2 inch thick on the inside" That's how Mike Agolia of Pleasant Mount describes living in his unheated camper this winter. The I-Team first told you about him in June. Valenti never ordered the home for which Agolia paid 57 thousand dollars. Our investigation led to felony theft charges against Valenti who finally paid Agolia back last month. "You've created a whole year of disaster and bills that you made happen." Agolia wants Valenti to pay for ice damage to his foundation and for the pain and suffering that led to his divorce.

The question everyone wants to ask Dave...where did the money come from. Valenti tells me he sold some assets including two trailer parks he was at risk of losing because he defaulted on loans." “I'm a pretty hard worker. I'm gonna do my best to solve every problem I have."

But some of those problems, Valenti can't control. He still faces jail time if convicted and Agolia vows not to back down. “I wont' drop the charges. He's devastated my life. He's ruined my life."

The Wayne County district attorney told me that the charges against Valenti remain at this time. And late today --we learned the house that was delivered today is too small for the foundation. Valenti told her he'll fix the problem.
