SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Federal Immigration agents raided a Scranton factory in search of illegal aliens. An Immigration spokesperson says that 52 people were taken into custody.

They were from Mexico, Honduras, and Uruguay. The raid is the result of a 10-month-long investigation which is continuing.

The plant is a sub-contractor for military products such as cots and backpacks. A company official said that all prospective workers must have a photo ID as well as a Social Security number.

The company says many of those taken into custody were workers who had been with the firm for as long as 10 years.
