In Tears, Parents Testify About Corrupt Ciavarella Court - Monday, December 7, 2009 at 11:47PM EST

PLAINS TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Members of the state's Interbranch Juvenile Justice Commission offered apologies to some of the parents whose children were sent away by a corrupt judge. One unidentified juvenile had a "near fatal seizure" shortly after being placed at a juvenile center in Carbon County. Her mother, who was also unidentified, testified she tried to get her daughter medication. The courts allegedly refused to accept it. The incident triggered one of several such stories told Monday night of a brutal judge who, while it's alleged padded his own pockets with kickbacks, also showed little compassion for those who came before him. It's said thousands of juveniles saw the inside of Mark Ciavarella's courtroom.

A boy scout who received straight A-s was locked up after he was found guilty of being with a group of kids who threw rocks at cars. The unidentified boy claimed years ago he never threw a rock. He maintains his innocence. His mother on Monday night alleged her son's bad luck began at a district judge's office. State Police were also involved. She claimed both the judge and cops fast-tracked her son to his appearance before Ciavarella. The boy, at 12 years old, was thrown in a detention center. Again, Mark Ciavarella would send another juvenile under questionable circumstances to Camp Adams. It's the first time juveniles and their parents are offering far-reaching accusations of misconduct across the legal and law enforcement communities. Witnesses were not made accessible to members of the media. State police troopers escorted them to their cars outside the East Mountain Inn, not allowing reporters the opportunity to ask further questions about accusations they made on the stand.
