Preparing in case of disasters- that was the purpose of a meeting at Penn College in Williamsport Monday.
Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency officials are looking to update the state's all hazards mitigation plan.
That means being ready ahead of time for all types of disasters, whether natural or man-made.
It also includes securing federal funding for projects that help reduce risk to citizens of Pennsylvania.
State Hazard Mitigation Officer Tom Hughes noted, "If we do our job, we're actually taking people out of harm's way and we're making sure first responders don't have to go in and rescue those people that may be in those businesses or homes."
PEMA officials continue to seek public input on the all hazards mitigation plan.
