SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The investigation continues into the police shooting death of a Scranton woman Brenda Williams was shot to death by police. They responded to her apartment last Thursday night and Friday for the very first time her family is speaking out and they want answers.

Family and friends paid their last respects to 52 year old Brenda Williams Tuesday. She was shot to death last Thursday night by Scranton Police. It happened at her North Lincoln Avenue apartment. Police responded to a mental health call that Williams was reportedly wielding a knife and making threats.

State Police and the Lackawanna County district attorney are investigating.

Police Chief David Elliot apologized for not calling the family and said he would do it Friday. He understood that Mayor Chris Doherty who went to the funeral spoke on behalf of the city and the police.

The family also says they heard that tazers had been issued to police officers the day after their sister was shot. Chief Elliot told us that was a tragic coincidence, that the city was in the process of issuing tazers 6 weeks ago and some were given out the same week.
