WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- "Jack," the little Jack Russell Terrier who disappeared from his family's Wilkes-Barre home is back safe and sound.
WBRE News reunited Jack with his family Tuesday evening after an overwhelming response from viewers offering what they could to help the Shortz family. In the end, a Dallas family called to say they had found Jack last week wandering a city street.
The reunion was full of smiles and tears. It was a happy moment.
The story began Monday night with an email from Tania Shortz. She wrote saying someone had stolen their brand new puppy out of their Pershing Street backyard. Shortz made a plea on WBRE News at 11 for information. Calls and emails came into our newsroom. Some had puppies for the Shortz family, others claimed they spotted Jack. But Franny Rosencrans says it was last week when she brought Jack home after seeing him roaming the streets. "I thought he was going to get his," Rosencrans said.
Franny Rosencrans and her granddaughter Hailey met up with the Tom, Tania and Michael Shortz outside a Wilkes-Barre movie theater and gave them an early Christmas gift, returning long-last Jack to his rightful owners, our cameras capturing the priceless moment.
Tania Shortz called it the perfect Christmas gift.
"When you said you found him and I saw him in the car, I was like, 'Jack!' This couldn't be a better Christmas present."
WBRE News thanks you for your interest in this story. Through our loyal viewers, we were able to reunite a lost puppy with his family.
