SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Richard Marchegiani, 23, of Jessup, turned himself over to authorities in Lackawanna County to face charges of homicide by motor vehicle, involuntary manslaughter and driving under the influence of alcohol and a controlled substance.
The charges stem from a one car crash along Route 247 in Jessup in September.
Marchegiani's Mustang crashed and rolled over, killing his cousin, Danielle Faramelli , and seriously injured his friend, Kristopher Harvey.
According to police reports, Marchegiani had a blood alcohol level two times the legal limit and had been smoking marijuana prior to the crash.
Police estimated his speed at 78mph in a 40 mile per hour zone.
Marchegiani's attorney, Tom Munley Jr., said that the defendant was extremely remorseful and wanted to express his regrets to the families of both of the victims. | |
