SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A Jessup man who admitted stealing from his family and friends broke his silence.
Those family members were in court and want Phillip Montemarano to spend time in jail. Montemarano says he understands why. ŇI certainly do. I deceived them and thatŐsŐ not the way its supposed to be. I did everything in my power to get them paid back and they will get paid back.Ó
Montemarano was scheduled to be sentenced for theft Tuesday morning. But the sentencing was delayed.
Montemarano pleaded guilty to taking $154,000 in an investment scheme. Several of his victims came forward after a WBRE story on his arrest. | | |
