Judge Approves Sale of W-B General Hospital - Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at 5:00PM EST

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- It's official - Wyoming Valley Health Care System has been sold to a Tennessee company. Luzerne County Judge Joseph Augello approved the sale Tuesday afternoon.

The sale had to have court approval because it is being sold from a non-profit company to a for-profit company.

The health care system will be sold to Community Health Systems in Tennessee. The sale includes Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and First Hospital in Kingston.
