Judge Paul Hadzick showed up to work Wednesday at Luzerne County Central Court and was told his services were no longer needed.
"I not only got thrown under the bus out of this deal, I got run over a couple of times," Hadzick told Eyewitness News.
Hadzick has worked at Luzerne County Central Court for three years.
He's a senior judge, appointed by the administrative office of Pennsylvania courts.
Hadzick was ok with being let go, until he heard about comments about his performance at a public hearing.
That hearing was about the future of central court.
Another judge and the district attorney confirmed they heard complaints from police about Hadzick's courtroom demeanor.
Hadzick says he never heard about those complaints.
"I said you know it was just unprofessional the way you guys handled this, I'm a part of the unified judicial system and I was satisfied with saying you didn't need me and I was gone. Now some other president judge is going to look around the state and say we don't want this senior, he's a trouble maker," says Hadzick.
Luzerne County president judge Chester Muroski says Hadzick's release was not performance based.
Muroski says Hadzick's release was a cost cutting measure.
He says he's trying to resolve any objections to keeping central court open.
And Muroski says Hadzick's position isn't being replaced.
17 district judges left in Luzerne County will rotate to fill the position.
Jjudge Hadzick made 225 dollars a day for his appointment.
That money was paid for by the state, not the county.
Hadzick stands by his record.
He retired as a district judge in Weatherly after more than 20 years.
Now he's awaiting word if he'll be appointed to another county. | | |
