The Kiss Theatre Company is getting jazzed up about it's new digs.
Kiss is renovating a well known movie theatre that closed more than ten years ago.
Kiss Theatre chairman Walter Mitchell said he’s, "Overjoyed, overwhelmed and incredible opportunity."
Mitchell is excited to see the renovation progress.
Workers started renovating three weeks ago.
The company gives children ages four through seventeen a chance to be in plays, musicals and more.
Since it began in 2006, kiss has used several different venues until settling in here at the mall.
Mitchell calls it a win-win for parents and kids.
"We train them while they shop, I mean it's a great deal. What a wonderful use of this space that's been dormant for more than 10 years," said Mithcell.
The first show here is scheduled for January.
Technical director Joe Sheridan says having a home base will make things easier.
"Everything's here, everything’s all at once and it will make it more efficient too. Instead of something taking three hours to do something maybe we can do it in two and a half," said Sheridan .
All leading to a solid experience for young performers.
Kiss producing artistic director Christa Manning-Dupper said, "That lends to the teamwork and the self esteem building and the confidence level that these kids get is unbelievable."
More than 65 children will take part in the production of the Wizard of Oz in January.
Kiss Theatre Company is holding a silent auction on Saturday, November 7 th at Moehegan Sun at Pocono Downs.
Cost is $25 per person with all proceeds benefiting Kiss. | |
