Democratic incumbent Paul Kanjorski managed to defeat Republican challenger Lou Barletta in a hotly-contested race for the 11th District seat in the U. S. House of Representatives.

The race was very close all evening long. By the end of the evening, Kanjorski had sealed a 13th trip to Capitol Hill by a slim margin, 52% to 48%.
