Keeping The Faith In Tough Times
Keeping The Faith In Tough Times - Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at 7:54PM EST
WILKES-BARRE -- Some would assume that the tough economic times would turn people to their faith and church. Statistics in a recent Gallup Poll would suggest otherwise, 42% report attending church every week or nearly every week. A number that has remained nearly constant from the period before the recession hit.
The numbers don't mean that religious institutions are not addressing the issue. Many church signs boast slogans on suffering and the economy, sermons dealing with the issue are being preached and even Pope Benedict is discussing the need for morality and ethics in economic structures.
Does religion and faith have a role in economic regulations? Do people feel rejected by a higher power because of the economy? What about those groups who claim God is punishing the world for it's sinful materialistic desires?
WYOU Interactive discusses the issues with Pastor Daniel Darko, Bishop Anthony Mikovsky and Dr. Kenneth Gardoski. | |
