0/ 5 rating TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY -- People in Monroe County turned out Saturday to help feed children across the globe and here at home.
Eyewitness News stopped by St. Paul Lutheran Church in Tannersville where volunteers were packing-up meals for the needy. It's called Kids Against Hunger.
More than 30,000 meals were boxed-up for local food shelters as well as earthquake victims in Haiti. Volunteer Maryann Fagan said, "It's good to help your community, whether they're here or in another country. It's a feel-good thing."
More than 7-million kids worldwide die each year from starvation or malnutrition diseases. Organizers of Kids Against Hunger say they've had nearly 40,000 people volunteer their time to the cause over the last few months. | |
