SCRANTON - LACKAWANNA COUNTY

This first ever "Kids Around The World" multi-cultural festival was a huge success on Sunday at the Scranton High School in Scranton. Hundreds of people turned about for entertainment, kids activities, and tasty ethnic food from countries all over the world. The festival was a major fundraiser for the planned "Timmy's Town Center" - an interactive childrens' museum set to open on the 2nd floor of the Steamtown Mall in October. The idea for "Timmy's Town Center" came about from Lexie Kelly. Kelly lost her 5-year son to brain cancer a few years ago. Her son enjoyed playing at the Please Touch Museum in Philadelphia while he received cancer treatments. Kelly hopes to provide a similiar fun experience for all children here in NEPA. The museum is set to open in October. WBRE's Dave Kuharchik served as one of the emcee's on Sunday's "Kids Around the World Event", & also presented a weather lesson - "Weather Around the World".
