Kids Night Out at Lycoming College

Williamsport, Lycoming County-
Some Lycoming College students gave up their Friday night, and gave back to kids in the community.
Dozens of students from several different campus organizations came together at the rec center.
Their aim was to provide a night of fun, food, and laughter that hundreds of local elementary school children won’t soon forget.
Class of 2011 Treasurer Ashley Loeb said, “I think it’s a really good thing that we, as college students, can reach out to the community. And I think it’s good that we’re getting the younger generations involved.”
From basketball and volleyball, to face painting, board games, and a magician- there was something here for everyone.
Class of 2011 President Jeff Rosenheck noted, “I guess we’re just a motivated bunch of students that wanted to help out. Plus we wanted to do a community service activity and we thought this would be a great way to do it.”
As an added bonus, a whole lot of parents were able to get a jump start on their Valentine’s Day romance.
Rosenheck added, “That’s right. They can have a night out, and their children can come and be in a safe environment here at Lycoming with us.”
We’re told this is just one of many things the sophomore class at Lycoming College is doing to make their mark in the Williamsport area.
Director of Student Programs Larry Mannolini said, “The students here at the college really do a lot of community service, and outreach in the community. And this is just another example of that.”
The Kids Night Out event ran from 6 until 10 Friday night. And it was at full capacity.
Students here say they’re considering making it a recurring event. | | |
